FROM BUSH TO BENCH: WORLD HEPATITIS DAY AND INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Arranged by the Doherty Institute this free event is a showcase of viral hepatitis and Indigenous health research and public health initiatives from Australia and around the world.

This event will feature presentations by Doherty Institute researchers, healthcare workers from Galiwin’ku, Northern Territory, and Narantuya Jadambaa, public health researcher from Mongolia.

Preventing Disease, Preventing Deaths

2018 World Hepatitis Day Symposium

Join community leaders, experts and policy makers to discuss approaches and challenges to the elimination of viral hepatitis.

Also hear the latest on progress to achieving elimination within defined areas or groups: micro-elimination among people co-infected with HIV in cities; viral hepatitis as a cause of cancer; and exploring vaccines and direct-acting antivirals as cancer prevention tools.

Don’t miss an update on the Burnet-led NHMRC program to eliminate hepatitis C in Australia.

The launch event is hosted by Hepatitis Victoria in partnership with Chinese Community Coalition project stakeholders, as part of the 2018 World Hepatitis Day related community awareness and engagement campaign – Jade Ribbon Tick.

The Chinese Community Coalition project is partly funded by the Council of City of Melbourne and partly funded by a health promotion grant of the Australian Chinese Medical Association of Victoria (ACMAV). This event also received a World Hepatitis Day Small Grant from Hepatitis Australia.
